Terms of use
Last updated: 27 October 2026
1. About these terms
These terms apply when you use Solo1 (solo1.org), including the app. By joining or using Solo1, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Solo1.
2. Who we are
Solo1 is run by Lumin Pro Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (number 16523542). In these terms, "we", "us" and "Solo1" mean Lumin Pro Ltd. Contact: hello@solo1.org.
3. What Solo1 is
Solo1 is a free platform where founders, small startups and people who want to help them give each other time. Members offer skills, ask for help and arrange sessions between themselves.
Solo1 introduces members and keeps a record of hours. We are not part of any session, and we don't check, supervise, endorse or guarantee the people on Solo1, the help they give or the outcome of any session.
4. Joining
- You must be 18 or over.
- You join with your own LinkedIn account. One account per person.
- Your card must be accurate and about you. Don't pretend to be someone else, or claim skills or experience you don't have.
- You're responsible for keeping access to your account secure, and for everything done through it.
The tick on a card shows that someone joined with a LinkedIn account. It doesn't mean we, or LinkedIn, have verified who they are or what they know.
5. Not professional advice
Help on Solo1 comes from members sharing their own knowledge and experience. It isn't professional legal, financial, tax, investment, accounting, medical or other regulated advice, even if the member giving it is qualified in that area. You decide what to do with any help you receive. For decisions that matter, talk to a qualified professional you have engaged yourself.
6. Sessions
- Sessions are arranged directly between the two members, by email or a booking link, online or in person.
- Treat sessions as a professional meeting. If you meet in person, choose a public or business place and take sensible care.
- Turn up as agreed. If you can't, cancel as early as you can.
- Don't ask for or offer payment, gifts or other benefits for a session. If you both want to work together on paid terms afterwards, that's a separate arrangement between you, outside Solo1.
- Treat what you learn about someone's business in a session as confidential, unless they agree otherwise.
- Any ideas, work or material shared or created in a session belongs to the members involved, as agreed between them. Solo1 claims no rights to it.
7. Hour credits
- Hours track time given and received on Solo1. Every new member starts with 2 hours.
- Hours have no cash value. They can't be bought, sold, transferred, inherited or exchanged for money, goods or services, and they exist only on Solo1.
- Hours only move when the person helped confirms a session.
- We set rules on hours, such as the lowest balance allowed, monthly limits and how long sessions have to be confirmed. We may change these rules, and will show the current rules on How it works.
- We may correct balances that are wrong, or that were built by breaking these terms or the guidelines.
- If your account is closed, your hours end with it.
8. What you post
You're responsible for what you add to Solo1: your card, photo, notes, messages and thank-you notes. It must be accurate, lawful and yours to share.
You keep ownership of what you post. You give us permission to store, display and share it on Solo1 as needed to run the service, for example showing your card publicly and generating its preview image. This permission ends when you delete it or your account, except where others have a record of it, such as a past session or a thank-you note shown as "A former member".
9. Using Solo1 properly
Follow the guidelines. In particular, don't:
- spam, sell, recruit, or use Solo1 mainly to promote your own products or services;
- harass, threaten, discriminate against or abuse anyone;
- share anything unlawful, misleading, offensive or that infringes someone else's rights;
- log, confirm or report sessions dishonestly, or trade hours just to build a balance;
- collect other members' details, or contact them for anything other than Solo1 sessions;
- copy, scrape or automate access to Solo1, or try to break, overload or get around its security.
10. Reporting problems
If a session didn't happen, use "It didn't happen". For anything else, including behaviour that worries you, email hello@solo1.org. We'll look into reports, but we can't promise a particular outcome.
11. Pausing, suspending and closing accounts
You can pause your card, or delete your account at any time from Your account.
We may suspend or close an account, remove content, or correct hours if we reasonably believe someone has broken these terms or the guidelines, put others at risk, or harmed Solo1. Where it's appropriate, we'll tell the member why.
12. Other services
Solo1 uses other services, such as LinkedIn for signing in, and members may share booking links to services like Calendly. Those services have their own terms, and we're not responsible for them.
13. Our service
Solo1 is free and provided as it is and as available. We work to keep it running well, but we don't promise it will always be available, error-free or suitable for your needs. We may change, pause or close Solo1, or any part of it, at any time, and will try to give notice where we can.
The Solo1 name, logo, design and software belong to us. You may not copy or reuse them without our permission.
14. Liability
- Sessions are between members. We're not responsible for what members say or do, for the help given, or for decisions you make based on it.
- We're not responsible for any loss of profit, business, revenue, opportunity or data, or for any indirect loss.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you use Solo1 as a consumer, these terms don't affect your legal rights.
15. Your data
How we collect and use your information is explained in our Privacy notice.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If the changes are significant, we'll email members before they take effect. If you keep using Solo1 after that, the new terms apply.
17. General
- These terms, the guidelines and the privacy notice are the whole agreement between you and us about Solo1.
- If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- We may transfer our rights and responsibilities under these terms to another organisation, for example if Solo1 is sold. You may not transfer yours.
- Nobody else has rights under these terms.
18. Law and courts
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can deal with any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
